Հայկական ապրիլ

Հայոց ցեղասպանության անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակին

Ինձ զոհ չկոչե՛ք, ես ապրե՛լ գիտեմ,
Արարե՛լ գիտեմ կյա՜նքը վերստին,
Գիտեմ մաքառե՛լ և հաղթե՛լ, անգամ,
Անկարելիի՛ն ու անհույս «ո՛չ»-ին:
Գիտեմ և՛ զրկանք և՛ ցավեր կրել,
Արյունոտ վերքով երազել հեռո՜ւն,
Փայփայել հո՜ւյսը վաղվա լուսավոր
Եվ ծլարձակե՜լ նո՜ւյնիսկ ոչնչի՛ց:

Ինձ վիշտ չկոչե՛ք, ես ցնծա՜լ գիտեմ,
Գիտեմ խնդության բերկրա՜նքը կռել,
Ամենադժվար արգե՛լքը, անգամ,
Անցնում եմ ոգո՛վ իմ հաղթահարո՛ղ:
Կարող եմ ցավոտ տառապանքների
Անվե՜րջ թվացող ուղեծի՛ր ծռե՛լ
Եվ կրկի՛ն անգամ, գլուխս բա՛րձր,
Արժանապատի՛վ ապրել եմ կարող:

Ինձ վերջ չկոչե՛ք, ես սկի՛զբ եմ դրել,
Որի արմատը տարեց է դարի՜ց,
Փորձել են ջնջել, որ ես չլինեմ,
Բայց չե՛ն հաշվարկել կառչո՛ւմս հողի՜ն:
Փորձել են կտրել ցողո՛ւնն իմ կանաչ՝
Չհասկանալով, որ հզո՜ր ծառի
Արմատը նորի՛ց երկի՜նք կձգի
Արևով օրհնված իր նո՛ր ցողունի՜ն:

Ինձ ապրի՛լ կոչեք, հայկակա՛ն ապրի՜լ,
Կյանքի՛ ու գարնա՛ն ոգեղե՜ն ապրում,
Օսմանցու խլած հողիս Հայրենի
Անկոտրում շի՛վն եմ, քա՛րն եմ հենարար:
Ես հա՛յ եմ այսօ՛ր, երե՛կ և վա՛ղը
Իմ հաղթանակող ոգո՛վ անկոտրում,
Թափած արյո՛ւնս և մա՛հս անգամ
Հավե՛րժ ապրելու աղո՛թք է անմար:

To my foreign Readers – Dear all, I have the honor to introduce to you my new poem “Armenian April” (written on 24.04.2018). The poem is dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. As always I tried to translate the poem for all my foreign readers. The following is a literal (word for word) translation of the poem, trying to make the meaning of the poem more understandable and available for all.

Armenian April

Don’t call me victim, I know to live
I know to create the life again,
I know to fight and win even
The impossible as well as the hopeless “No”.
I know to suffer deprivation and pain,
And to dream the future, having a bloody wound
I know to hug the light of future
And germinate even from nothing.

Don’t call me sorrow, cause I know to rejoice,
I know to make the delight of joy,
Even the most difficult barrier
I pass with my victorious spirit.
I can even change the way of
Seemingly endless sufferings
And again, with my head high,
I can live dignified.

Don’t call me end, I have put a start,
And its root is older than a century,
They have tried to annihilate me
But they have not reckoned my clinging to the soil.
They have tried to cut my green stem
Not understanding that the root of the powerful tree
Will raise to the sky a new stem, blessed with sun.

Call me April, Armenian April!
Living of life and spring
Cause I am the stem
And the foundamental stone from my Homeland,
Which the Osmanians have grabbed from me.
I am Armenian today, yesterday and tomorrow
With my victorious spirit
And even my spilled blood and death
Are a prayer for eternal life.
