Dear readers, it’s my pleasure to introduce to you my new eBook, a new story, titled “To see farther”. It is written only in Armenian, that’s why I would like to give a brief summary of the book for my foreign readers. One day in the underground one adult blind man, being accompanied by a young man, entered the wagon and sat right in front of a young writer. The blind man began to talk with the young author and they got acquainted. Then on the second day they met again and the young author began to think about the unexplainable mystery of those “random” and constant meetings in the wagon. The blind man told him that he was in a hurry and didn’t explain why. When they met again, the blind man asked him to go out with him to a fresh air as he wanted to ask him something. He assured that it is very important. Trying not to refuse the ask of a blind man, the author agreed to talk. They sat in the park and the blind man began to tell the story of his life. He told that his name was Avetis Barseghyan, he had a wonderful wife and the young man, who was helping him, was his only son – Aram. He also told that his wife whose name was Narine, died a month ago as she was deadly ill. She had a very unique inner world and used to write beautiful poems. Avetis also told that his wife had a poor eyesight and one day when they both were looking at the window, she told that she could not see the farther, the trees beyond. She said that she couldn’t see the entire world. At that moment Avetis turned her to him and said that he would become the whole world for her and he would always try to shine for making the world a brighter place for her. When Aram noticed the young writer in the metro he told his Dad about that, so Avetis decided to ask him to help in creation of a special book of poems in memory of his wife, taking into account the writer’s experience in such kind of works. He also told that before her death Narine asked him to be late… She meant that she hoped his husband will live longer than she. Avetis also suggested money for the work. Surely refusing from money, the young writer agreed to help in creation of the book, he also suggested help in widely promoting of the published product. Avetis was very glad and told that he was sure he found the right person and that the young writer was very kind and good man. He said that though he couldn’t see he saw farther as all the blind men can see and feel deeper finding out the inner world of a person and the kindness of his soul. Avetis told that because of the hard circumstances his wife and her family had to leave Armenia in 90’s and settled in US. Avetis tried to be with her wife but he was denied in getting visa. He had to stay in Armenia, besides he wanted so much to stay in Armenia as he was one of the active members of the Nagorno-Karabakh Liberation. The writer found out also that Avetis knew him as he was friend of his father, when they both were taking part in the battles of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Liberation War when Armenians were protecting their native land form the Azeri aggression. Avetis told that he was wounded during that war and hospitalized. As a result, he lost his eyesight. Avetis told the writer that though his wife had asked him to be late he is in a hurry… At first the young man did not understand the true meaning of that. He started to work on the book after receiving Narine’s poems from Aram, who had collected them for the book. After a month of work the writer called Aram to meet and to give the blue print of the book for Avetis. When they met and the writer said that he has finished the work, Aram told him that his Dad was dead. The writer was astonished and surprised and deeply excited from that news and he asked why he hadn’t been told about that. Aram gave him his father’s last wish – a letter for the writer. He opened the package and found there a letter. Avetis wrote that it was his wish not to tell about his deadly illness to him because it would prevent him from working on the book. He would start to pity him for his illness. Avetis found also the money in the package. He gave the money and the book to Aram, asked the place of his father’s grave, went to the cemetery, found the grave and put there a poem, titled “Be late…”. The writer stood for a long time near the grave, thinking and trying to see the image of Avetis in the sky, trying to see farther.

Congratulations on your new eBook, Arlen! Thank you for sharing the summary of the story in English – that is really appreciated, knowing my poor (read “none”!) knowledge of Armenian. 😉
It is always a true pleasure to see your creativity, revealed in so many different ways. I hope you will never lose that sparkle and wish/gift to make the world a bit more kind, human and colourful place.

    • My dear Esenga, my tender friend, thank you so much for these wonderful and inspiring words. You always inspire me with your warmth and kindness. Thank you! Armenian leader mass media also reacted and posted articles and press releases about my newly published story. It was my pleasure to provide (as I always do) an English text for my respectful readers abroad. Thanks much, appreciated!

      Kisses and hugs…
