Այս գիշեր ևս մեկ ընտանիք չի քնի սոված / Tonight One More Family Will Not Sleep Hungry

In winter, especially during the severe cold days I always feed the house sparrows  (Passer domesticus) from our window. I usually feed them bread. I get a tremendous happiness and peace doing that. When feeding the little sparrows and watching how they take the bread crumbs to their nests I always think the following – Tonight one more family will not sleep hungry. This is my philosophy of being useful for Nature, for Animals. Even if this is a very little benefit to Nature anyway I always and definitely make that humble effort to support. Please, let’s think a little about the Animals and about the Nature in whole. Let’s help the Animals, and one day our Planet will become a place where all the Creatures, including the Humans, will live in Love, Peace and Harmony.

    • Dear Doris, today you wrote so important and nice words to me on Twitter: “Its such a nice story, little by little we can help earth, thanks Arlen”. Yes! little by little we can help earth, take care of nature! Thank you so much for your nice words!

      • Doris says:

Oh well I feel just like you, some people think that they do not make a difference but any can help earth. Your post is a good one maybe more people will do it too. Have a great weekend.

      • Have a great weekend too and again thank you from all my heart for your lovely comments and for inspiring sincerely. You have so much light inside!

  2. How awesome, Arlen. I have two seed feeders and two hummingbird feeders myself, and my sentiments echo your beautiful prose almost exactly. That I am helping these little souls…

  3. Great Arlen. I do always feed the ducks and swans outside the boat and I do get a happiness as well to do that. The picture is so cute :) When I worked in a bakery many years ago the left overs from the day we went with to the bird rescue and they took it around town in Stockholm and fed the birds.

Very nice what you do, dear Arlen, for nature! Very nice for feeding birds with bread crumbs! Congratulations.
I also tend to feed the birds!
On the ledge of my balcony, I put them as you like, bread crumbs, whole grains and rods and a bowl of water. And Fri birds happy and reward me with beautiful singing.
A family of sparrows are always present.
One morning, I woke up later and the food was not ready for them. I was amazed that or close to my bedroom window and struck its beak in window … I was amused when I heard.
Once I put food and ate, it went belly full and did not come back until the afternoon!
But this story was very funny!

Have a wonderful evening, dear Arlen and a blessed weekend!
    Sincerely Stefania! :)

    • Thank you so much for your memories and for this lovely story! Stefania, writing this post I hoped it will tocuh people’s souls. There is kindness in every human’s soul. We must do everything not to loose that kindness.

You are spreading happiness by your story about feeding birds and even the least of these creatures are from God/Supreme Being/Muhammed… we all belong to Him.

A great act of love for animals.
I like to feed in these cases, I think they should thank spades.
    A great weekend.

Life is abundant and what joy there is in showing compassion for even the smallest of God’s creatures! We have a Martin Motel (16 small gourds mounted on a tall pole) and several bird houses my husband build. I just put out birdseed and corn for the squirrels this morning. Saw a bluebird investigating one of the houses and it is not even springtime yet!

  9. Dear Arlen,

I have a few stories for you with sparrows. My father passed away when I was only 12. My mother told me that sometimes people that we love that pass come back in the form of animals and communicate with us. The first time this happened to me was back in 2003 when I went to visit my mom in Europe. On our way back at the airport I was very sad to leave. It was the airport in Niece and there were a few birds flying around inside. I was eating a croissant with my then really young daughter. A little sparrow came by the table and I gave it some bread. Then I said if you would like some more you can take it from my hand. You will not believe it Arlen, The bird perched on my hand and ate the croissant! People around were in disbelief! I think it was my father reassuring me that it was ok to leave and come home.

On another occasion my daughter and I were leaving our apartment when we saw a bird that was stuck on a sticky mousetrap someone threw out. I ran upstairs and got oil and tried everything to take the bird off but it just would not work. It broke my heart! Then my daughter said why don’t we take it to the vet as it was just down the road. We took the bird on the sticky pad to the vet and miraculously they were able to free the bird. I was OVER THE MOON with happiness!

There are so many other stories of me and birds that I can go on for days. I believe that animals speak to us if we decide to listen. I feel blessed to be touched by them and that they choose me.

This post made my day as I never throw bread in the garbage but give it to the birds and squirrels in this cold climate of Canada they need help in the winter months. Thank you for doing your share to make this world a better place for all animals.

    Sincerely,

    Éva

Bread and water help our feathered friends through the new normal of wierd weather! I try to put out both too. I used to have bird feeders but the mega poop that would end up around it was a turn off!
